After Dark: Birth of the Disco Dance Party is the true story of how a group of recent college graduates built a network of discotheques in New York City starting in 1971 that paved the way for Studio 54, “Saturday Night Fever”, and the nationwide explosion of disco in the late ‘70s. I was part of this group so After Dark is a first-hand account. This is a story that has never been told.
The ‘70s were colorful and produced some of the best music ever recorded for dancing. Disco music didn’t even exist when we began. After Dark takes the reader on a fascinating journey as we overcame many obstacles and, in the process, contributed to the creation of disco music, which evolved from a blend of R&B, soul, and funk.
